Taurine – Killer of toxins
Taurine is a natural derivative of the amino acid. It was first discovered in 1827. In the human body, taurine is found especially in the liver, brain, heart muscle, retina and platelets. It is these organs and cells that are most sensitive to the lack of taurine.
Taurine has two major functions in the body:
– it stimulates the production of bile acids and, via that, it makes the flow of the bile from the liver more intense;
– it binds to many fat-soluble toxins (including toxic agricultural chemicals) and excess hormones and facilitates their removal with bile and/or urine.
